Gauntlet Golf ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Gauntlet Golf mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use the App.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your name and email address through your chosen sign-in method (Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In). We do not collect or store your password — authentication is handled entirely by Apple or Google.
Location Data
The App uses your device's GPS to provide distance-to-green calculations, shot tracking, and on-course positioning. We collect precise location data in two modes:
- When In Use: Location is collected while the App is open and you are actively using GPS features.
- Background (During Rounds): When you have an active round in progress, location data is collected in the background to continue tracking your position on the course. Background location collection stops when the round ends.
We do not continuously track your location outside of active GPS feature use. Location data is used solely for golf-related features within the App.
Camera
You may use your device's camera to photograph physical scorecards. These images are processed using optical character recognition (OCR) to extract score data for entry into the App.
Photo Library
If you submit feedback or a bug report through the App, you may choose to attach images from your photo library. These images are uploaded along with your report to help us diagnose issues.
Push Notification Token
If you grant notification permission, we collect your device's push notification token to deliver score updates, event reminders, and Live Activity updates.
Golf Performance Data
The App collects data related to your golf activity, including scores, statistics, shot locations, club selections, and handicap information. This data powers the App's scoring, leaderboard, and handicap features.
Device Metadata
When you submit feedback through the App, we automatically capture your device model, iOS version, and app version to help us reproduce and resolve issues.
Usage Data
We collect information about how you interact with the App's features to improve the user experience. This does not include third-party analytics SDKs or advertising identifiers.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and maintain the App's features (GPS distances, scoring, handicaps, leagues)
- Authenticate your identity and secure your account
- Deliver push notifications you have opted into
- Process scorecard images for score entry
- Respond to your feedback and support requests
- Improve the App based on usage patterns
- Send transactional emails (account verification, password resets, event notifications)
3. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate the App:
- Apple Sign-In — Authentication. Subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.
- Google Sign-In — Authentication. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
- Amazon Simple Email Service (SES) — Sending transactional and notification emails.
- Amazon S3 — Storing scorecard images you upload.
- Google Cloud Vision — Processing scorecard images for OCR text extraction. Images are sent to Google's servers for processing.
- Apple Push Notification service (APNs) — Delivering push notifications to your device.
We do not use any third-party advertising networks, analytics SDKs, or tracking frameworks.
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on servers located in the United States. We use industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), secure authentication tokens, and access controls on our infrastructure.
While we take reasonable measures to protect your data, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
5. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. Golf performance data (scores, statistics, handicap history) is retained to provide historical records and accurate handicap calculations.
Scorecard images are retained for reference purposes. You may request deletion of specific images at any time.
If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes (such as fraud prevention).
6. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your personal data — view the information we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data — update your profile information through the App
- Delete your data — request complete account and data deletion
- Export your data — request a copy of your personal data

7. Account Deletion
You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by:
- Opening the App and navigating to Settings
- Selecting "Delete Account"
- Confirming the deletion
Alternatively, you can email support@gauntletgolf.com with the subject line "Account Deletion Request." We will process your request within 30 days.
Account deletion is permanent. All your scores, statistics, handicap history, and personal information will be permanently removed from our systems.
8. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We share data only as described in this policy (with the third-party service providers listed above) and only to the extent necessary to operate the App.
We may disclose your information if required by law, legal process, or government request.
9. Children's Privacy
The App is rated 4+ on the App Store. However, we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a child under 13 without parental consent, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page and may notify you through the App or by email for significant changes.
Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
